Someone in Vancouver is selling salt for $80 a bucket on Craigslist

This morning Vancouverites lined up around the block at 10 fire stations around Vancouver, only to find that the free salt on offer from the City had run out in minutes.

The move from the City was prompted by plummeting temperatures that has turned many streets in Vancouver into ice rinks. And with more snow on the way this weekend, residents are getting desperate, especially when store supplies almost everywhere are either short or non-existent.

Now one person is trying to take advantage of the situation by selling a bucket of salt on Craigslist for $80.

“I have a few buckets of salt on sale,” the post reads. “I collected it this morning at one of ten fire halls in the City of Vancouver. Serious inquiries only.”

Despite contacting the poster, we have no way of verifying if the unscrupulous individual is actually trying to make a quick buck off of the back of Vancouver’s salt shortage or just trying to poke some fun at the city’s panic.

Either way however it’s hardly helping the situation is it?
