It could be a slow-going trip filled with snow for those travelling to and from Vancouver via the Coquihalla Highway or Highway 3 today… and tomorrow.
According to Environment Canada, up to 30 cm of snow is expected to fall between noon today and noon on Saturday.
The snowfall is the result of a “strengthening storm system just west of Washington State,” the agency said.
Other areas near Chilliwack will see “significant icing from freezing rain,” which is expected to arrive mid to late-morning on Friday, before switching over to snow around midnight.
In light of the expected snow, Environment Canada is advising people to “consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
Those who are unable to avoid travelling today and tomorrow are cautioned to be properly prepared for the conditions.
Good luck out there.
