A polling station in a high school in Aldergrove, BC was temporarily locked down earlier today after a teenage boy was spotted in the hallway with what looked like a handgun.

According to Langley RCMP, police were called to Aldergrove Community Senior Secondary School this morning.

Officers shut down all entrances to the school, as well as the polling station, and found the boy 14 minutes later, they said in a release.

When the boy was found, police said, it turned out he had been posing for a Snapchat photo with a prop “handgun” from the drama department.

The polling station reopened swiftly and classes returned to normal, said the release.
