Slide the City returns to North Vancouver for 2 days this weekend

Jul 18 2018, 12:45 am

After much success following last year’s event, Slide the City is making its annual return to North Vancouver for the summer.

The 1,000-foot-long slip-and-slide will be returning to Lower Lonsdale this weekend, on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, from 10 am to 6 pm.

This will be Slide The City’s fourth annual event in Metro Vancouver.

Using inner tubes, sliders will be able to zip down a four-block-long stretch of Lonsdale Avenue from Victoria Park to 4th Street, where a splash pool awaits riders at the finish line.

Thousands of spectators will be taking over the streets during the event to watch sliders go down the roadway at speeds of up to 15 km/h.

In addition to the massive slide, food trucks and live music will be occupying Lower Lonsdale over the course of the weekend.

Summer Sessions, North Vancouver’s free concert series, will also be extending their hours from 5 to 10 pm at the Shipyards on Saturday, July 21.

North Shore Neighbourhood House will be offering a bag check, change room, and a complimentary shuttle to and from Victoria Park, specifically for sliders.

Tickets are still available for anyone who would like to slide. Passes start at $40 and can be purchased online.

Parking for the event will be limited, so biking, walking or transit is encouraged.
