SkyTrain dates: 10 things to do around Moody Centre Station

For most Vancouverites, the Tri-Cities have always been a little too off the grid, but thanks to the wonderful addition of the Evergreen line it has never been easier to explore everything Port Moody has to offer.

Centrally located in the heart of PoMo, Moody Centre is just a few hundred meters away from a little bit of everything.

To help you plan your Tinder/ Bumble evening, here’s our list of date-worthy activities just a walking distance from the SkyTrain.

Go on a brewery hop at Brewer’s Row

  • What: One street, four microbreweries and half a dozen food trucks just waiting to be conquered. Pro tip: plan your visit carefully, the Tacofino food truck has been known to stop by on occasion.
  • Where: Murray Street, Port Moody
  • When: Weekdays 1 pm – 10 pm and noon – 11 pm on weekends
  • How much:  Around $6 / beer

Run Rocky Point

  • What: A perimeter trail of bridges and trails that starts with ice cream and ends at the beach. During the summer months, the area is bustling as runners flock here for the shade and breeze.
  • Where: 2800 Murray St, Port Moody
  • When: Dawn to Dusk
  • How much: Free

Shred at the Rotary PoMo Sk8 Park

  • What: Ramps, rails, stairs, grind edges and tabletops for skateboarders and BMX bikers. Helmets are mandatory and enforced by the City of Port Moody
  • Where: 2800 Block Murray Street, Port Moody
  • When: Dawn to dusk
  • How much: Free!

Kayak from beach to beach

Rocky Point Park Port Moody

  • What: A quick kayak trip across the inlet. Cruise around some sailboats, try to find a few sea lions but do not flip the boat. Rocky Point may not be the cleanest waterway, but it is absolutely gorgeous provided you don’t get wet.
  • Where: 2715 Esplanade Street, Port Moody
  • When: Daily 9 am – 8:30 pm
  • How much: $32 for 2 hours, or $65 / day

Wait in line at Rosa’s Cucina Italiana

  • What: No reservations and no delivery, you have no choice but to sit outside and wait. It could be 20 minutes, it could be two hours, there’s really no way of knowing, but once you finally get a table the food is amazing.
  • Where: 2331 Clarke Street, Port Moody
  • When: Tuesday – Thursday and Sunday 4 pm – 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 4 pm – 11 pm, closed Mondays

Bring your family to the spray park

  • What: One of Port Moody’s favourite family activities. The spray park is free to enter and a great size. Even on busy days, there’s enough room for kids to have a good time.

Make your own wine

  • What: An investment in your future happiness. The only greater joy than bottling your own wine is drinking it, making this the perfect long and short term activity.
  • Where: 3030 Saint Johns Street, Port Moody
  • When: Tuesday – Thursday 11 am – 7 pm, Fridays 11 am – 5 pm, Saturdays 10 am – 5 pm, Sundays 11 am – 4 pm, closed Mondays

Chill out at a hookah lounge

  • What: The chillest place to hit up in all of PoMo. A must visit especially if you’ve never hookah’ed before.
  • Where: 2406 St Johns Street, Port Moody
  • When: Monday – Thursday 5 pm – 1 am, Friday 5 pm – 3 am, Saturday 1 pm – 3 am, and Sunday 1 pm – 1 am

Eat the best Indian food in the Tri-Cities

  • What: Hands down the best Indian restaurant around! From korma to butter chicken to mali kofta, this place has nailed it all. For a complete experience be sure to stop by on a Saturday evening to see the live magician.

Nerd out at Hourglass Comics and Games

  • What: The only place in Port Moody where you can get your very own comic book subscription box. Every time a new issue comes out they’ll put one aside for you until you come to pick it up. You can also stop by to play table top games like Warhammer and Magic.
