Teenage girl sexually assaulted in Richmond

RCMP are looking for a man who sexually assaulted an 18-year-old girl in Richmond on Friday night.

The attack happened when the teenager was walking northbound on Ash Street towards General Currie Road at around 7:30 pm.

As she approached the Paulik Park Community Garden, a unknown man approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground.

The man forcibly sexually assaulted the girl, before she managed to fight him off and escape.

The suspect is described as 5 ft 10 to 5 ft 11 tall, wearing dark pants, dark dress shoes, and a dark puffy jacket.

In a release, Corp. Dennis Hwang said the RCMP have a team of seasoned investigators working on the case.

“We are still active in the area, conducting comprehensive neighbourhood canvassing and analyzing video surveillance footage,” said Huang.

“Our Victim Services Unit has been instrumental in this very delicate time.”
