The World Rugby Sevens Series is back in Vancouver, and so far it’s proving to be just as fun as the inaugural visit last year.
The play on the field is action packed.
Teams are allowed just seven players on the field at once, making for wide-open, high scoring matches. Each match consists of just two seven-minute halves, meaning you can jam a lot of rugby into one day.
And jam them in, they do.
There are 24 matches scheduled on Saturday, with another 21 to be played on Sunday.
Canada got off to a great start, defeating Scotland 28-15. They’ll need to finish top-two in Group D to advance to the quarter-finals.
For fans, it’s an all-day rugby festival. And as part of the festival culture, spectators come in ‘fancy dress.’ Think Halloween, in March.
With beer.
Lots and lots of beer.
Here’s a selection of some of the best dressed on Day 1.
