The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide: Ritual

We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re indulging in a spot of brunch at Ritual.

Located in the West End, Ritual has been making waves ever since it opened up earlier this year, thanks to its comfortable-casual surrounds, delicious offerings (offerings that could easily bring you back day after day), and brief status as BC’s only certified living wage restaurant.

In addition to dinner, the Denman Street eatery also offers a stellar brunch/lunch (served Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm and Tuesday to Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm), which succeeds in bringing a world of variety to the late morning meal.

While dinner features an ever-evolving list of dishes, Ritual’s brunch menu is fairly consistent. It includes Huevos Rancheros, Ciabatta French Toast (made with freshly baked bread — Ritual make all their bread daily), The Ritual Burger, and the Instagramable wonder that is the Cornbread Waffle Sandwich.

This giant hybrid sandwich is neatly layered with grilled chicken, yam aioli, cranberry compote, avocado, and five spice bacon, and is served with a side of greens.

There’s Eggs Benedict of course. Ritual offers a delicious Pulled Pork Eggs Benny — think two Hollandaise-covered poached eggs atop English muffin halves, with homemade tater tots and some citrus zest.

For the indecisive eater there’s a dish made especially with them in mind; “All the Food” features thick slabs of French toast topped with a seriously juicy piece of fried chicken thigh and two gorgeously gooey sunny side eggs.

To top it off there’s a fiery pineapple mango hot sauce, a seductively sweet pot of maple syrup, and some refreshing greenery. From just one bite it’s easy to see why the menu says “life complete” under this ultra satisfying dish.

Brunch goers at Ritual have the choice to wash everything down with booze forward tipples (such as mimosas, margaritas, and Prosecco), coffee brewed with beans from Verve Coffee, tea, juice, and strawberry lemonade.

While the food at Ritual is a huge drawing card it is not the only one; the restaurant’s welcoming space is just the right combination of rustic-casual, making it ideal for a laid back brunch date.
