  • What: With entertainment playing and vendors striking up light conversation with customers throughout the day, the Steveston Farmers and Artisans’ Market creates a friendly, social environment for you to spend your afternoon. Whether you’re buying fresh locally grown produce, grabbing a bite to eat, enjoying the craftsmanship of some of the artisans, or simply strolling through the market enjoying the day, the market has something to offer for everyone.
  • When: Sunday, August 5 and Sunday, August 19, 2018

Ex-Forest Service Vessel Squadron Rendezvous

  • What: Celebrate over 100 years of BC’s coastal heritage by boarding the BC Ex-Forest Service Vessel Squadron and meeting their owners at Britannia Shipyards dock. Then visit the Steveston Maritime Modellers inside the Seine Net Loft and see how they bring history to life through their handcrafted model ships.
  • When: Saturday, August 4 to Sunday, August 5, 2018
  • Time: 12 to 4 pm

  • Admission: Free

The 6th Youth World Cup Live Painting Competition

  • What: The 6th Youth World Cup Live Painting Competition and The One Dollar for One Poor Child Charity Event is a global charity event that is hosted by The Canada Youth Arts Development Foundation and strongly supported by UNICEF Canada. It is a global painting competition for children and youth artists ages 4 to 25 across the world. The event aims to help children who live in poverty.
  • When: Sunday, August 5, 2018
  • Time: 2 to 6 pm
  • Where: Richmond Olympic Oval – 6111 River Road, Richmond
  • Cost: $20 registration (includes $1 donation to UNICEF)

Starlight Theatre at Lansdowne Centre

  • What: Take a trip back to the days of poodle skirts, greased hair, and doo-wop music – the Drive-In Movie Series returns to Lansdowne Centre for its third year, presented by Fresh Air Cinema. Enjoy classic, family-friendly, and even some of the latest hits on an outdoor screen. Take a drive and cuddle up, or bring a blanket and lawn chair and settle in. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis (first 200 vehicles), and the movie audio will be broadcast over FM radio. Keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event, so smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Farm Fest at Garden City Lands

  • What: Richmond celebrates local food, sustainability and its agricultural past, present and future at Farm Fest. The event will feature a farmers’ market, agricultural displays from local farmers, children’s activities, local entertainment, farming demonstrations at the KPU farm, and more.
  • When: Saturday, August 11, 2018
  • Time: 10 am to 3 pm
  • Where: Garden City Lands – Garden City Rd and Lansdowne Rd, Richmond
  • Admission: Free

RCMP Musical Ride – Richmond

  • What: A unique display of Canadian showmanship! Watch a full troop of 32 riders and their horses take part in intricate drills and choreography, once assembling in the famous “Dome” formation which has been featured on the back of the Canadian fifty-dollar bill. Pre-show begins at 6:30 pm and Musical Ride begins at 7:45 pm.

  • Tickets: Online, $10, children 5 and under are free

All Aboard!

  • What: Be transported through time with All Aboard! at the Steveston Interurban Tram Building. This free event allows visitors to explore Richmond’s transportation heritage, both past and present, with guest experts, live music, children’s crafts and activities and more. Ride your bike to this event and the bike valet will be happy to look after it while you explore.

10th Annual Richmond Garlic Fest

  • What: Chefs from a number of restaurants in Richmond and Vancouver will be volunteering their time to bring festival-goers a selection of garlic-based delights, including garlic ice cream – a must try for any garlic lover. Other event highlights include an expanded Farmers’ Market, a “kid’s zone” with tons of farm and nature-themed activities, growing garlic workshops, live music, farm tours, live bird of prey flying demonstrations, and more.

Summer Fun in the Park: End of Summer Luau

  • What: Blueberry season is here. Purchase fresh local blueberries and the best blueberry pie in town with proceeds supporting the Richmond Nature Park Society’s environmental education programs.

  • What: Canadian and international music stars Magic! and Lights will headline the fourth annual Richmond World Festival, taking place next month. Presented by Coast Capital Savings, the nationally award-winning festival will once again present a smorgasbord of music, arts, food and culture from around the globe.
