RCMP dive team called to assist search for teen missing at Buntzen Lake

After Coquitlam Search and Rescue (CSAR) were called to Buntzen Lake for reports of a missing swimmer yesterday, the RCMP dive team has now been called in to assist with the search.

On Wednesday morning, officials said the missing swimmer was a 19-year-old man from Surrey.

Police said the teen “was in the lake with a group of friends who called police when they noticed he was no longer in sight.”

Crews have been at the lake since the call came in around 4:30 pm yesterday.

There is no indication of foul play, police added.

Buntzen Lake is currently closed to the public for the time being, as police try to locate the missing man.
