9 Pride-themed cocktails to sip in Vancouver

With Vancouver Pride Weekend coming up (July 29 to 31), a number of restaurants and bars around the city are getting into the festivities and celebrating universal love by offering a range of loud and proud Pride-themed cocktails.

To prepare you for Pride 2016 here is a list of suitably colourful concoctions available in Vancouver. So raise a glass and cheers to love and equality.

Beverage Director J.S. Dupuis of Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar will be featuring a rainbow of cocktails for Pride Week. Boulevard’s Pride cocktail menu includes: Cosmopolitans (red), The Seeker (orange), Sidecars (yellow), Last Word (green), Blue Hawaiian (blue), and Aviation (purple).

Pride Collins – Beach Bay Cafe

During the Pride festivities, Beach Bay Cafe’s award-winning Bar Manager Adrian Lindner will be mixing the aptly named Pride Collins. This summer-forward sipper is made with rhubarb, lemon shrub, gin, and soda, and is best enjoyed al fresco overlooking the water on Beach Bay Cafe’s welcoming patio.

La Diversité – Chambar

An effervescent blend of gin, Fernet Branca and house-made herbal rhubarb grapefruit soda, La Diverrsité is a little sweet, a little bitter and a whole lot of fun. Chambar’s La Diversité cocktail will be available over the long weekend (July 30 to August 1).

Harvey Milk – Royal Dinette

Bar Manager Kaitlyn Stewart of Royal Dinette is offering a special Pride cocktail for the entire month of July. This vibrant-coloured libation is made using a homemade milk liqueur, which is infused with blueberries to create a bold purple hue (purple being a signature colour of the LGBTQ community). Stewart says, “I chose to name the cocktail “Harvey Milk” to pay homage to the biggest and most significant gay advocate of the last 50 years.”
