A 21-year-old Nanaimo man is in custody after allegedly committing two sex offences while on a bus in West Vancouver on Monday.

Just before 8:30 pm, West Vancouver Police (WVPD) responded to transit stops on Marine Drive near Taylor Way.

Complainants reported a male had committed a Sexual Assault by reaching between the legs of a female passenger and grabbing her genital area, police said.

The suspect reportedly fled the bus after being confronted by the victim and other passengers.

While working to find the suspect, WVPD received a second report of a man “fondling his own genitals” on a different bus.

With information relayed by West Vancouver Transit, a suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Upon further investigation, officers determined both incidents had involved the same suspect.

Now, investigators are recommending charges of Sexual Assault and Indecent Act.

The suspect was held at West Vancouver Police headquarters and is scheduled to make his first court appearance today, Tuesday November 14.
