Police in are investigating a shooting in Pitt Meadows on the long weekend sent a 36-year-old North Vancouver woman to hospital.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, the incident took place around 9 pm on Canada Day, when police responded to reports that a Fiat had collided with a power pole on Old Dewdney Trunk Road, between Lougheed Highway and Reichenbach Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they determined that the collision was a result of the woman getting shot while she was behind the wheel.

Police said the woman suffered serious injuries as a result of the shooting and was taken to hospital. She is known to police.

Now, officers are looking for any witnesses, video, or dashcam footage of the incident.

They have also identified two suspect vehicles involved in the incident.

The first, they said, is a silver Ford Focus hatchback with a Manitoba license plate. A woman was driving this vehicle and a man was in the passenger seat.

Police said the second suspect vehicle is a “late model” black – or dark-coloured – pickup truck. The make and model of the vehicle is unknown at this point, but police said the driver was a man.

“No clue is too small,” said Ridge Meadows RCMp Cpl. Amanda Harnett. “We are looking for anybody who may have seen the victim’s car or the two alleged suspect vehicles in the area of Reichenbach Road and Old Dewdney Trunk Road, including any video or dash cam footage.”

Harnett added “several people came to the aid of this victim and Ridge Meadows RCMP wishes to thank them. If you were at the scene and did not speak with police please contact us.”

Now, anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-467-7639.
