North Vancouver's hottest (and FREE) new waterfront festival is happening this weekend
If you’re looking for something exciting to do this weekend, get yourself down to North Vancouver’s new SHIPPED Waterfront Festival.
The highly-anticipated event is taking place on Saturday, August 11, at the newly-renovated Shipyards District at the foot of Lonsdale. It’s going to transform the area for a day filled with music, food, and much more.
And it’s 100% free to attend.
Organized by the City of North Vancouver, in partnership with the Lower Lonsdale Business Improvement Area (LLBIA), the festival will also feature a licensed dock party led by Vancouver’s popular Donnelly Events.
There’s going to be a DJ spinning electronic tracks and bartenders serving up your favourite brews on the new Cates Dock. So if you haven’t been to a dock party yet this summer, this is your chance (it has a capacity for 400).

It doesn’t stop there at SHIPPED because the festival has a stellar lineup featuring JUNO-nominated indie-electronic duo, HUMANS, and Spotify favourite’s Manatee Commune from Portland.
Did we mention the free zip lining? That’s also a thing!
You can check out local recording artists Leisure Club, Sam the Astronaut, and Blue Strange, on the TD Main Stage at Shipbuilders’ Square. Then there’s the Darwin Stage at the foot of Lonsdale which is part of ‘Adventure Avenue’, including axe throwing, a climbing wall, and euro-bungee trampolines, as well as vendors and food trucks.
There’s literally going to be something for all ages at the event with live bands and DJ’s, roving entertainers, plus the Kid’s Stage in the Seaspan Family Zone with Rockin’ Robin, Storytime with Rapunzel, Peter GG, and the Kids Can Dance Party. The Family Zone will be set up like a virtual playhouse with bouncy castles, giant plinko games, the bike rodeo, and more.
And if you feel like doing some shopping, you can visit the farmer’s market beside the live stage at Lonsdale Quay.
