Baseball, fireworks return to Nat Bailey Stadium for Vancouver Canadians home opener
Baseball season is back in Vancouver!
The Vancouver Canadians kicked off their Northwest League season on the road, taking three of five games against the Eugene Emeralds. Opening Day at Nat Bailey Stadium goes on Tuesday night, as the C’s open with a six-game homestand.
No longer the best kept secret in the city, the Canadians have become a hot ticket. The team averaged 6,177 people per game last season. That dwarfs everyone else in their single-A league, is higher than most double-A teams, and is more many triple-A clubs.
They’ve done it because of the attention to detail at Nat Bailey, which has made for a great experience for fans.
The Canadians schedule includes all sorts of fun promotions. Tuesday is the first of eight Fireworks Extravaganza nights this season.
You can bring your dog to the ballpark on July 13 for the annual ‘Dog Day of Summer’ game.
Former Major League star players will be making appearances and signing autographs, including Fergie Jenkins, Gaylord Perry, David Justice, Corey Koskie, and Fred McGriff.
There’s also a pair of bobblehead nights to celebrate a pair of former Canadians that have gone on to have Major League success, Kevin Pillar and Noah Syndergaard.
