American actor Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured Thursday on the British Columbia film set of the third and final movie to The Maze Runner series.

Initial reports by TMZ indicated that the 24-year-old actor was injured in Vancouver, but updated reports by the Associated Press now confirm he was filming an action sequence at Cache Creek Airport, west of Kamloops. He was run over by a car and then rushed to a Vancouver hospital with several broken bones.

The local production for Maze Runner: The Death Cure began just a few days ago on Monday, and it is now suspended until O’Brien makes a full recovery. The film was originally scheduled to open in theatres on February 17, 2017.

O’Brien is the main character in the dystopian, post-apocalyptic film series – based on novels written by James Dashner – and is also known for his role in MTV’s Teen Wolf.

20th Century Fox’s first Maze Runner movie in 2014 was highly successful given that it had a budget of only $34 million and was able to gross $348.3 million worldwide. The sequel, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, also performed well with a $312.3 million
