March for jobs, justice and climate in Vancouver on Saturday

Apr 27 2017, 5:56 am

Climate Convergence is holding a rally in Vancouver on Saturday to voice their demands for action on climate change and a transition to green economy.

The grassroots coalition of individuals and groups is concerned about climate change and the natural environment in the face of an expanding fossil fuel industry.

The rally near Science World will feature indigenous leaders, environmentalists, labour representatives and activists involved with social justice and immigrant rights causes.

There will also be live music and an illustrious lineup of speakers, including representatives of the BC Greens, the BC NDP and the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.

The rally in Vancouver will be one of many similar events happening across North America, with the main event being held in Washington, DC.

The event comes as a recent report from Analytica Advisors found Canada’s clean tech sector is falling behind, in terms of revenue projections.

Back in 2011, Analytica Advisors projected that by the year 2022, Canada’s clean tech sector would see revenues of $50 billion.

However, their current report states that revenue may reach only $18 billion.
