Now you can rappel down the side of a skyscraper all for the cause of helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Taking place on Thursday, July 6, Rope For Hope is an experience of a lifetime that allows you to rappel 36 storeys from the roof of the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

To participate, all you have to do is raise a minimum of $1,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and The Yukon. All proceeds raised from the event will support granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

And don’t worry, you’ll be totally safe during your 400 foot vertical drop descent because there will be a trusted guy called ‘Moose’ overseeing your every move.

Moosazadeh (Moose) owns a company called Rope Access Maintenance, and he’s also an infantry Sergeant reservist and instructor with the Canadian Armed Forces, so you could say he knows a thing or two about rope safety.

He’s also an employee of Over The Edge Global, who carry out all of the Rope For Hope events, so you can rest assured that your safety will be in good hands.

There’s a lot more preparation that goes into Rope For Hope than you would imagine. And Moosazadeh is involved throughout the process, months before and in the run up to the event. “A few days before the event, we start the physical set up. We go over every piece of equipment, and spend time thinking about the best anchor points the building has to offer, different load bearing situations, potential rope rub points, the comfort of the participants—everything,” says Moosazadeh.

As a participant, you’ll get a full safety briefing with a hands-on opportunity to test and feel comfortable with all the equipment before you make your way down the Hyatt Hotel.

Moose will assure you that you have nothing to worry about on July 6 as ropes are checked at scheduled breaks during the day. This will be his third time helping out at Rope For Hope, and you can meet him in person by signing up to take part in the event and support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Just remember to hold on tight, and enjoy the thrill of a lifetime.
