Updated 1:20 pm: The incident has been resolved and traffic is returning to normal.

Commuters travelling over the Lions Gate Bridge this afternoon are advised to give themselves extra time or plan an alternate route, due to a police incident.

The central lane of the bridge is currently closed to traffic, causing delays for all road users.

In a release, TransLink said that buses are being detoured and the 240 and 246 buses on the North Shore are operating from Marine and Capilano to Lonsdale Quay where customers can access SeaBus service.

There are shuttle buses operating along Georgia taking customers from Bute to Waterfront Station.
