Recall

KitchenAid, a well-known household appliance brand, has recently had several of their products issued for a country-wide recall.

The recall was issued by the Government of Canada and Health Canada on February 20, 2018 over a number of KitchenAid’s 1.7 litre electric kettles. The item at risk consists of a metal body, plastic handles and comes in multiple colours.

The electric Kettles have been subject to complaints of the handle detaching and breaking off, with multiple reports of burn injuries in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. In Canada alone, close to 50, 000 units have been sold to date. The recall affects products dating all the way back to September of 2013.

Affected products can be identified by looking at both the product model number and the product serial number – you can find both of these numbers on the bottom of the kettle.

For anyone who has an affected product, Health Canada has warned to stop using the kettle immediately and contact Whirlpool. The company will issue a free replacement.

You can find more contact information for Whirlpool on the company’s website.
