'Keep Vancouver Spectacular' during city-wide cleanup this weekend
A city-wide volunteer event will hit the streets of Vancouver this weekend, as part of a year-long cleanup campaign called Keep Vancouver Spectacular.
“Vancouver’s vibrant, clean and green neighbourhoods are a source of pride that keep our city a beautiful place to live, work and visit,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson.
“The tens of thousands of resident, business and neighbourhood group volunteers who participate… show tremendous community spirit and pride.”
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canada, the City is challenging 10 other cities across the country to take part in litter cleanups to help #CleanCanadaTogether.
All materials needed for the cleanup will be provided by the City, including tongs, gloves, plastic bags, and brooms.
You can also lead your own cleanup and arrange for the bags of garbage to be picked up by the City afterwards.
