At long last, we may finally see Johnny Football play in Canada.

Signed to a contract by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in May, quarterback Johnny Manziel hasn’t seen a snap in the CFL, outside of preseason. Starting QB Jeremiah Masoli has been that good.

So the Ticats are giving the 25-year-old controversial former Heisman Trophy winner a chance somewhere else, pulling the trigger on a blockbuster deal with the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday.

Manziel, along with OT Tony Washington and OL Landon Rice are on their way to Montreal in exchange for DE Jamaal Westerman, WR Chris Williams, and a first round pick in 2020 and 2021.

The Alouettes, who have already used three quarterbacks this season, are expected to give Manziel a chance to play. Perhaps they’ll use him in their next game, at home to the Edmonton Eskimos on Thursday.

Manziel won’t have to wait long to try to stick it to his former team, as the Tiger-Cats visit Montreal on August 3.
