IHIT identifies victims of Richmond targeted shooting

Homidice investigators have identified the two victims of a deadly overnight shooting at a Richmond home in the early-morning hours on Monday.

IHIT has confirmed the victims are 36-year-old Keri Smith and 37-year-old Terrence Peter Smith.

The Smiths recently moved to Richmond from the Surrey area. They also have ties to the Vernon area of B.C.

The investigation began just after 2:30 am on Monday, when police responded to a residence in the 6600 block of Eckersley Road, for reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, police found two people dead inside the home.

 According to IHIT, both victims were known to police and investigators believe this was a targeted shooting. 

“Anyone who was in the area of the 6600-block of Eckersley Road during the overnight period of April 30th is asked to contact IHIT,” says Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT, in a statement.

Investigators are working on determining the motive of the shooting.
