Free bus travel for kids in Metro Vancouver for one week in October

Sep 29 2017, 5:44 am

Kids across Metro Vancouver can ride the bus for free during the first week of October.

From Monday, October 2 to Friday, October 6, TransLink is offering free rides on all buses for young children and teenagers from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

It is all part of the public transit authority’s I Love Transit Week to promote the benefits and convenience of transit use. The offer is provided annually and was previously called International Walk To School Week.

However, this year, free travel is limited to bus services; students cannot ride for free on SkyTrain, SeaBus, and the West Coast Express.

Regular fares also apply to adults who accompany children and high school students on transit.

To prevent any unnecessary inconvenience to regular commuters, teachers planning to take advantage of free bus travel for field trips are asked to plan their transit trip during off-peak hours between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm.
