Luxurious aviation-themed cocktail lounge takes flight in Vancouver (PHOTOS)

Vancouver’s newest cocktail lounge takes sea to sky to a whole new level – and you’ve got to head in to see what we mean.

Located on the water’s edge inside the The Westin Bayshore in Coal Harbour, HJU:Z Lounge plans to take its guests up to cloud nine once it opens on Saturday, November 18, and we are so ready to go up, up, and away.

The space is big, 2,800 square-feet in fact, and it can seat around 120 people comfortably in the custom made plush velvet furniture created by Vancouver-based company, Bermanfalk.

The decor is Art Deco to-the-max, the colour scheme features soft pinks and pale blues which give off some serious retro airport vibes, in the best sense.

The centre of the room is marked with a 8.5-foot chandelier that took 60 hours to piece together, the glass is reminiscent of the wind that’s blown by the propellers of a plan, which can be seen represented in the design of the many screen and wall dividers scattered throughout the large space.

Inspired by  record-setting pilot American Howard Hughes, HJU:Z Lounge (note the play on Hughes), will offer patrons the chance to step back in time, soak in the breezy surroundings, and sip on some cocktails crafted as an ode to Hughes’ many flights around the globe.

It’s not just cocktails that await you at this spot. HJU:Z will be serving up wine, beer, and bites, all at an affordable price.

Guests are also invited to take part in a cocktail journey around the world inspired by Hughes’ journeys. If you drink all seven of the featured beverages (does not have to be in one sitting), you’ll unlock a secret final cocktail that will be changed up frequently.

HJU:Z will also be offering live music five nights a week – Tuesday to Saturday – you can bet this lounge will become a regular spot for happy hours and night caps alike.
