Foodies take note: The Vancouver Greek Food Festival, one of the city’s longest running annual cultural events, returns to the city for its 39th year.

Over the past four decades the festival has gained quite the following, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the lower Mainland, as it celebrates all things Greek.

This year the two-weekend event, aimed at showcasing the true culture and cuisine of Greece, will take place on September 9 to 11 and September 16 to 18 at the Hellenic Community Centre.

Priding itself on being the “Original Greek Food Festival” the free event will feature live entertainment, dancing, a kids zone, a market place with artisan crafts, and of course authentic Greek food.

A range of enticing food vendors will be on site this year, offering an array of culinary delights, including souvlakia, gyros, a lamb dinner, Greek salad, spinach pies, cheese pies, loukoumades, and more.

The festival will also feature a new tavern-style patio — the perfect spot for large parties and families to enjoy their roast lamb dinner.
