The Gray Olive Cafeteria opened in Burnaby Heights last week, and people are losing their minds.

Once you check out the new spot’s menu, you’ll understand why.

The eatery serves seasonal comfort food, they call it “mom’s home cooking infused with culinary magic” – and it certainly seems to have people in Metro Vancouver under its uber-tasty spell.

This new spot, located at 4190 Hastings Street, serves breakfast, lunch, a selection of hot and cold drinks, and a weekend and holiday brunch.

Breakfast here is drool-worthy and includes dishes like Waffle Bits with a dulce de leche or warm maple syrup, Avocado Toast, Warm Barley Oatmeal, The Kitchen Sink made from eggs, sautéed veg, green onions, sausage, bacon, cheese and potatoes, and The G.O. Breaky Sandwich, a combo of marbled egg, chives, tomatoes, and smoked shallot aioli between two buns.

For lunch diners can expect a selection of composed salads and sandwiches. Choose from the House Green or Caesar, or opt for the Roasted Cauliflower or Beet, Feta, and Quinoa varieties.

For Sandwiches there’s Roast Chicken, Pork Belly, a BLT, a Grilled Cheese, and The G.O. Burger made from beef patties, tomato, minced onion, smoked shallot aioli, and a burger bun.

Sides for these dishes include a choice of the g.o. potatoes, fresh biscuits, and salads. There is also the options for a warm gravy dip, which is amazing.

The Olive also serves a variety of beverages from its coffee bar and pop and juice that people can enjoy while sitting in the light and airy eatery, which is sprinkled with greenery and modern accents.

Between the food porn and the aesthetically-pleasing surroundings and atmosphere, it’s easy to see why Burnaby and Metro Vancouver in general are excited for this new addition to the neighbourhood.

The Gray Olive is open Tuesday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm.
