Arrive early and celebrate at the 2017 Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix

Get geared up because Canada’s oldest cycling classic, the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix is hitting the streets of Gastown on July 12.

The high speed, action-packed bike race referred to as a ‘criterium,’ is held annually on a closed course on the city’s most historic streets. Typically, covering between 800 and 1,500 metres.

But naturally with every amazing event comes the amazing happy hour specials.

And to help you find them during the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, we’ve compiled a list of the top 25 places where you can hit happy hour throughout Gastown.

L’abattoir

Each day from 5:30pm to 6:30 pm, this is a first come first served bar with half-priced appetizers, daily red and white wines for $6, beer for $5, and cocktail specials for $7.

Meet Restaurant

This vegetarian and vegan restaurant has a sweet happy hour from 3 to 5 pm and 10 pm to close with $4 sleeves of Phillips Lager and
 $5 Groovy Gravy Fries or Corn Fritters.

Nicli Antica Pizzeria

Vancouver’s first VPN Certified Neapolitan Pizzeria, has a Happy Hour each day from 4pm-6pm. They offer: 8-inch Margherita Pizza with Draught Beer or House Wine $10, Italian Classic Cocktails at 50% off and a glass of Fernet for $4.

Peckinpah

A southern styled BBQ joint that offers a happy hour daily from 3 to 6 pm with $5 draft deer.

Jules French Bistro

This bistro pours featured happy hour wines at $5 a glass and $25 a bottle. It’s the perfect spot for some light bites with an $8 menu from 2.30 to 5.30 pm daily.

The Revel Room

Check out the ‘sour hour’ specials here from Tuesday through Saturday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm. This includes $6 sours, $5 craft beers and $9 tipsy pour (9oz) wines.

Rodney’s Oyster Bar

‘Low Tide’ takes place here Monday through Saturday from 3 to 6 pm. So you can indulge in cheap oysters, mussels, clams, garlic shrimp and Haida Gwaii candy.

Six Acres

Flock to this bar for cheap beer and pimms cups for $5 during happy hour. It happens daily from 11:30 am to 6 pm.

The Diamond

This Gastown gem is an eatery where you’ll find sushi and bespoke cocktails. Happy hour runs until 7:30 pm so don’t worry if you’re running late.

Tacofino

Tacofino helps make every day happy from 3 to 6 pm by serving up $8 margaritas, $5 draft beers, and knocking $1 off every wine by the glass option. If you’re hungry order some chips and dip for $10 or tortilla soup for $5.

The Flying Pig

Happy hour takes place from Monday to Friday between 3 and 6 pm and 4 to 6 pm at the weekends. Order tasty options like siracha BBQ chicken drumstick, beef carpaccio and truffled jumbo macaroni.

The Greedy Pig

Yes, there’s another Pig in Gastown. And here, happy hour is every Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 pm. So you can expect $4 single high balls, $6 doubles, $4 sleeves, $5 pints and $15 pitchers of draft beer. You’ll also find house white and red wines for $5 with a $4 to $7 appetizer menu to choose from.

The Irish Heather

This traditional Irish bar allows kids to eat for free from lunch until 7 pm. The deal applies to one adult per child. And drinks for the grown-ups cost $5 from 3 to 6 pm. This includes Guinness, Kronenbourg, and ‘pucker up grand-dad’ drinks (old grand-dad bourbon followed by a shot of pickle juice) and with Jameson for $4.

Tuc Craft Kitchen

Enjoy discounted tipples, beer taps and wines at Tuc’s one-hour of happiness from 5 to 6 pm. During this short but sweet period you can enjoy small plates of mussels and sausage, pork croquettes with kimchi, gravlax and parsnip fries.

The Clough Club

Select classic cocktails can be ordered here for $7 during the Monday to Friday happy hour from 5 to 7 pm. Oh, there are $4 spirits, $4 highballs and $5 hot dogs too.

The Lamplighter

You’ll find happy hour at this bar from Monday to Friday, 3 to 6 pm. Try their best boudin balls or bourbon bacon popcorn as the perfect pairing with you $5 craft beer, house wine or $4 highballs.

The Portside Pub

Get merry at this pub from 5 to 7 pm with $5 local beers (there are 22 different kinds). Then order something like the tasty lobster roll from the $6 appie menu.

The Blarney Stone

The Cambie Pub

The Black Frog

All day happy hour drink promotions are served up at this bar. Yep, every single day.

The Charles Bar

Located at the Woodward’s Building, this bar offers up happy hour specials from 3 to 6 pm Monday to Friday with $4 domestic draft beers, $4 house wine, and $3 highballs. Did we mention $8.95 chicken wings?

Joe Pizza

If you want to dine-in, check out Joe Pizza for ‘al taglio’ square-cut pizza that’s cooked to perfection in roman-style. Order a side of salad, wine, or beer any day of the week during happy hour from 4 to 6 pm.

La Mezcaleria

Gastown’s prime Mexican restaurant serves up happy hour specials on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 pm and from Wednesday through Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. Order $6 house wines, $5 lagers, or $6 cocktails. Plus ceviche callejero for $6, $8 quesito fundido, and amigos flight (3 items) for $16.

The Metropole Bar

This bar offers a burger and beer combo for $7 every day along with .75 cent Tacos. Seriously. Or you can order a burger and beer combo for $7 from 4 to 8 pm daily.

Pourhouse

The Pourhouse holds a generous happy hour each day from 5 to 6 pm where drink specials and small plates are all half price. Yep, half price.
