12-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Vancouver

Vancouver Police are hunting for a suspect, after a man groped a 12-year-old girl in the West End on Friday night.

The assault happened around 9 pm after three young girls left a local community centre and walked past the 7-Eleven store at Denman and Comox streets.

Outside the store, they noticed a man staring at them and whispering to another man; the girls then continued west to Chilco Street.

The man then ran up and sexually assaulted one of the girls, groping her, before running away along along Pendrell Street and north on Guilford.

The girl was extremely shaken up and upset by the attack, and police were unable to find a suspect despite searching the area.

The suspect is described as:

white with a light complexion
between 5 ft 8 and 5 ft 10 tall
having some facial hair
wearing grey clothes and dark hat
carrying a black backpack

Police are conducting a thorough canvass for any video that may have captured images that will help identify the man who attacked the girl.
