Free admission for women at Illumination Summer Night Market this weekend

May 14 2017, 4:29 am

The Illumination Summer Night Market at Vulcan Way in Richmond is celebrating Mother’s Day by offering free admission to all women all weekend long.

It is one of the largest night markets in Metro Vancouver, with over 200,000 square feet of space and 200 vendor booths plus 60 food vendors serving authentic Asian cuisine.

While this night market has been an annual tradition for years, organizers have changed things up by adding massive light displays to the attraction. This year’s market includes 12 sets of colourful light displays with thousands of glimmering lights reaching up to seven feet tall.

As well, the night market features an extensive and diverse programming schedule, such as music, dance, and singing competitions.

The night market is located near the Knight Street Bridge – close to Richmond’s IKEA and Home Depot. Organizers say neighbouring parking lots at the Home Depot and Sears Home Store will be used as overflow parking for attendees this weekend.

Last Saturday, the night market saw over 18,000 attendees for its opening day, marking a new record for the event. Beginning this week, all admission tickets purchased will be valid for the entire month of May.
