Exclusive: stream “Folds” from Nathan Shubert’s debut album

Nathan Shubert has been a fixture in the local music scene for years, working in bands as a side player for popular artists like No Sinner, David Newberry, and Jody Glenham, but the Vancouver-based pianist is now poised to take centre stage himself with a debut solo album of modern classical music for piano.

The album, titled Folds, is due to be released on January 27, 2017. Shubert initially announced his solo project earlier this year on Piano Day (March 28), with the song “Saga Norén, Länskrim, Malmö” — a track that will be featured on Folds and also caught the attention of German classical/electronic musician and composer, Nils Frahm, who added it to his 2016 Piano Day playlist. Shubert is planning a tour in the new year, to support and accompany the release.

Now, just in time for the holidays, Shubert has given another taste of what’s to come. Daily Hive Vancouver is pleased to exclusively stream the album’s title track, which you can listen to below.
