Man dies after assault in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside on Tuesday morning

A man in his 50s has died after being assaulted in the Downtown Eastside on Tuesday morning.

Police say they were called just after 8 am to the 200 block of East Hastings Street in response to a reported violent assault.

The man was taken to hospital by emergency crews, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Police are not releasing any further details on the assault itself at this point, but investigators don’t believe the public is at risk.
