No, really. You’ll be wandering through different rooms, following individuals actors simultaneously performing their storylines in this interactive theatre experience that reimagines Edgar Allan Poe’s last days alive.
Third Wheel Production’s Deep into Darkness invites you into the mind of the legendary author as “he desperately searches for his lost love in this tragic dream within a dream,” experiencing poems like ‘Tell-Tale Heart’ and ‘The Raven.’
Deep into Darkness (Taylor Kare)
Explore over 20 rooms and three floors as you touch objects, rifle through drawers, and read through papers, unravelling “the mystery of [Edgar Allan Poe’s] chaotic descent into madness” at The Cultch from August 13 to 18 and August 20 to 25.
It’s kind of like a 19th-century Victorian era choose-your-own-adventure experience, except creepier and — well — real.
Choose who to follow, which spaces to explore, and come back to experience a whole new story as you’re transported back in time night after night.
Deep into Darkness (Taylor Kare)
While traditional theatre has its strengths, the Third Wheel Productions team is trying to challenge the audiences in Vancouver with large-scale immersive productions.
They say that Deep into Darkness will “challenge, provoke, and inspire people to step outside their comfort zones and try something different.”
Tickets are limited and can be purchased online for $65 (early bird price), $75 (regular price), or $85 (at-door price).
Attendees should dress comfortably and be prepared to walk/stand for the entirety of the show.
The show is 18+ due to adult themes involving nudity and violence.
