Surrey RCMP are investigating after an 11 year-old girl reported she was groped by an unknown man in Cloverdale on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 5:40 pm, the man reportedly grabbed the buttocks of an 11-year-old girl as she was walking on the 18800 block of 65th Avenue.

Police said the girl “reacted” and “the male apologized and quickly retreated from the area on foot.”

The young girl returned to her residence and contacted police.

“While she was not physically injured, the victim was understandably upset by the incident,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a statement.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police are now appealing to the public for any further information that may lead to the identity of a suspect.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, in his 30s, and approximately 6′ tall. At the time of the alleged assault, he was wearing blue jeans, a light coloured shirt, and a light coloured baseball hat. He may have had stubble on his face as well.

The Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident as well
