Creative Escape Evenings offer free artistic working space in North Vancouver

Jun 28 2017, 1:20 am

Looking to escape your apartment and get creative in the community? An initiative by North Vancouver Community Arts Council is hoping to help you do just that.

Creative Escape Evenings are offering bloggers, readers, musicians, painters, knitters, and doodlers free working space at the CityScape Community Art Space.

As such, the Art Space will be opening its doors for a free creative drop-in every last Thursday of the month. The next drop-in is this Thursday, June 29.

“Creative Escape is the place to share your skills and learn from others in a casual atmosphere,” reads a release about the initiative.

“We strive to make this a welcoming and inclusive evening where community is nurtured through a shared love for creating. We hope you will join us.”

If you want to go along, you’ll need to bring your own project and supplies; Art Space will provide tables, chairs, tea and coffee, and music.

There’ll also be exhibitions by other artists as follows:

  • Thursday, June 29: Means of Production: Five female textile artists explore the importance and relevance of working with your hands in an increasingly digitalized world. Be inspired by the wonders of weaving, rug hooking and stitching.
  • Thursday, July 27: Branch Refinement: Three artists explore the various ways of connection; how we connect to our pasts, presents and futures.
  • August 31: Branch Refinement: TBC

CityScape Community Art Space is a contemporary, interactive gallery dedicated to giving an opportunity for both emerging and established artists to exhibit and promote their work.
