Man dead after single-vehicle crash in West Vancouver on Sunday

Oct 2 2017, 10:56 pm

A 43-year-old Vancouver man is dead after a single-vehicle crash near one of West Vancouver’s busiest intersections on Sunday.

Just after 1 pm, emergency crews were called to Taylor Way, just north of Marine Drive, after reports a mini-van had crashed into a concrete overpass support.

The driver, who was the lone occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The route was closed for approximately five hours for investigation, assisted by the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.

Structural engineers were called to assess the overpass and deemed it structurally sound before the roadway was re-opened.

An investigation to determine the cause of the crash remains in the early stages.
