The Vancouver Canucks announced today they have signed forward Derek Dorsett to a four-year contract and defenceman Luca Sbisa to a three-year contract.

Dorsett, 28, joined the Canucks this season after being acquired from the New York Rangers last summer in exchange for Vancouver’s 85th pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. He signs a four year contract worth $2.65 million per season.

“Derek has been an incredibly valuable member of the Canucks roster, both on and off the ice this year,” said Canucks GM Jim Benning. “His willingness to chip in both offensively and defensively while standing up for his teammates at all times has been instrumental to our success all season.”

Sbisa, 25, was acquired by the Canucks as part of a blockbuster deal last summer that saw Ryan Kesler traded to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Sbisa and Nick Bonino. He signs a three year contract worth $3.6 million per season.

“Luca has been a big part of our backend all season, logging big minutes during key stretches and doing anything that is asked of him by our coaching staff,” Benning said.

“We are excited to have both Derek and Luca in the fold moving forward to continue our goal of winning today, while also having an eye to the future.
