FREE BEER!

Now that we have your attention, here are some changes coming to Rogers Arena this season.

Free beer, for real

The Canucks will be offering one free Budweiser for everyone at least 19 years-old (or Mike’s Hard Root Beer, Pepsi, or bottled water if you prefer) for Saturday night’s home opener against the Calgary Flames.

New beverage options

If you read Mike’s Hard Root Beer and thought that sounded different, it’s because it is. There’ll some new beverage options:

  • Seven new craft beers
  • Mike’s Hard Root beer
  • Draft cider
  • Vintage Peach Tea

New food

It’s been a couple of years since the Canucks revamped their food options, and they’re still making tweaks to it.

New food options:

  • Smoked meat sandwiches
  • Jumbo chicken wings
  • Pizza by the slice
  • Hand cut fries
  • Chicken tenders
  • Italian sausage on a Bun
  • Perogies
  • Lumberjack sandwich (4 carved meats on one bun)
  • Steam bao buns
  • Coconut Thai curry
  • Chocolate dipped strawberries

Jersey giveaways on back-to-back nights

What started as sometimes an awkward last day of the season tradition is now at the start of the year. For the first time, they’ll be doing it twice.

The jersey-off-our backs promotion will be for Saturday’s home opener against Calgary, as well as Sunday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

50/50 jackpot

Fun fact: the best time to buy a 50/50 ticket is the first game of the season, because it always includes the unclaimed prize money from the previous year. A total of $77,560 will be added to Saturday’s jackpot, which could make the jackpot reach as high as $200,000.

New this year: you can also participate in an online 50/50 draw for each game.

The Canucks are also advising fans to arrive early for Saturday’s game – get in your seats by 6:50 pm – to watch the pre-game ceremonies that include player introductions, a new opening video, and a light show that includes a 200-foot-wide video projection mapped across the ice.
