Canucks call up Goldobin as injuries start to add up

Nikolay Goldobin finally got the call.

The 22-year-old was recalled by the Vancouver Canucks Sunday morning in a move that was long overdue by all accounts.

Playing in all situations, Goldobin has 19 points (7-12-19) in 18 games with the Utica Comets. The talented Russian winger had to be patient though, as the Canucks’s forwards have been relatively healthy this season.

But with Derek Dorsett’s status unclear and Brandon Sutter injured – he’s likely out for the rest of the road trip after getting hurt in New Jersey – Goldobin could get his chance soon. Also currently injured for the Canucks is defenceman Erik Gudbranson.

Goldobin had three goals in 12 games with Vancouver last season, after being brought over from San Jose in a trade for Jannik Hansen.
