Aug 17 2016, 4:51 am

If you feel like it’s been a slow start to the summer and you haven’t really spent enough time in the great outdoors, now’s your chance to get active – and benefit a charity too.

The annual Canuck Place Adventure Race will take place on Sunday, September 18 at Locarno Beach, in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Adult and teen Adventure Racers will kayak a 3 km route from Locarno Beach, bike 20 km from Jericho Park through Pacific Spirit Park Trails, and run 6 km along Spanish Banks.

The course can be completed either individually or in a relay as a team. There will also be a short and long kids course, including a newly expanded obstacle course for kids under 14.

Last year, more than 130 Adventure Racers helped raise over $80,000 for the hospice, which provides critical care for children with life-threatening illnesses in BC.

Registration for this year’s Canuck Place Adventure Race is now open. Adult entry costs $100, teen entry costs $50 and kids’ entry costs $25.

All racers who register for the Canuck Place Adventure Race as a group of three or more by August 22 are eligible to receive a 50% refund on their registration fee.

Alternatively, use the code DAILYHIVE25 when you register, to get 25% off registration.

All participants are also asked to raise a minimum amount for the hospice, according to their age category – for adults $500, for teens $250, and for under 14s $150.
