Black bear seen wandering in Surrey neighbourhood on Monday afternoon
Residents of Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood have been advised to keep an eye out for any unexpected wildlife visitors, after a black bear was reportedly seen in the area this afternoon.
Just after 3 pm, the BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) tweeted about the sighting.
In light of the incident, BCCOS also advised residents in the neighbourhood to keep their garbage “locked” or “inside.”
Thus far, no further follow-up tweets or statements have been issued by the BCCOS, but officials are reminding people that should they see any wildlife, to call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.

There have been other reports (and footage) bears within other city limits in the past couple of weeks as well.
A bear running through the PNE Fairgrounds property was caught on camera, and in Port Moody, a popular park was closed due to a pair of “wandering” bears.
