Located on West 4th Avenue, Bistro Pastis has been treating patrons to its classic French bistro fare for over 15 years, and come the weekend dishes up an enticing brunch time spread.

The bistro’s main plates, which are little more ‘lunchy’ than they are ‘brunchy,’ are just as appealing and include: a quiche du jour ($15); crispy duck confit salad ($18.50); salade Niçoise of grilled albacore tuna, baby red potatoes, haricots vert and black olive vinaigrette ($19.50); coq au vin ($21); Angus New York steak with pomme frites and a peppercorn sauce ($24), and a porcini mushroom and squash risotto ($24).
Bistro Pastis’ brunch menu also features the long-established breakfast fav Eggs Benedict. There are three types in fact, each with its own French twist, to choose from: ratatouille Provençale ($14); duck confit ($15), and smoked salmon ($15). Served with a choice of hash browns, mixed greens or a 50/50 mix of the two, the Eggs Benedict is a truly tasty and satisfying meal, made even more so by the deliciously creamy and surprisingly light Hollandaise sauce.
Diners who have managed to leave room for dessert will be delighted by the tantalising list of sweet treats available. Offering a half baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream ($10.50), chocolate profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and roasted almonds ($10.50), lemon tart with fresh berries ($10.50), crème brûleé du jour ($9.50), trio of house-made sorbet ($9.50) and a basket of freshly baked citrus and chocolate Madeleines ($9.50), the chefs at Bistro Pastis will have brunch goers licking their lips in anticipation for this indulgent but almost obligatory next course.
