You can win an edible prize pack from this Abbotsford dairy farm (CONTEST)
The BC Giveaway Series is an initiative by BC Dairy Association (BCDA), in partnership with Daily Hive, to raise awareness of local food businesses — like small dairy processors — that have been hit hard by COVID-19.
Going for a drive out of the city is one of our favourite ways to unwind. If you’re stuck on where to spend your next day trip, instead of driving aimlessly into the horizon, why not choose an adorable dairy farm as your destination?
If you want one steeped in history, we know just the spot. Birchwood Dairy Farm has been operating since 1968. The family-owned and operated farm has over 150 cattle on 150 acres and makes all of its dairy products on site.
Alongside the farm, you’ll find a fully equipped processing plant, country store, and the star of the show: the ice cream parlour. The spot that’s famous for its delicious frozen varieties has over 50 flavours to choose from, and you’ll also find everything your dairy dreams could imagine.
Think frozen yogurt, European-style tart yogurts, and all the creams you’d ever want (regular cream, whipped cream, sour cream). The farm even makes its own homemade eggnog.
And of course, there’s the cheese. How could we not talk about the cheese? Birchwood not only makes its own cheddar, but also marble, Monterey Jack, feta, and your classic Canadian squeaky cheese, too. Did someone say homemade poutine?
Come for a cone, meander around the store, and tour the grounds. Along the way, you’re sure to meet one of the cows or some of the adorable young stock that live here.
The self-sufficient operation grows enough hay and silage on the farm to feed its happy cows all year long. You can get up close with life on the farm by visiting its petting area (open from June to early September) or the observation room where you can watch the cows being milked daily from 3:30 pm to 5 pm.
Birchwood is open every day (except Christmas, Boxing Day, and Easter Sunday) and attracts crowds of all ages to experience country life first hand. Friends grabbing ice cream, coffee, or lunch flock to the spot, but you’ll also find motorcyclists, joggers, seniors, and students all travelling to Birchwood for its yummy food, cute cattle, and gorgeous mountain scenery.
To celebrate local and help you support nearby businesses during the ongoing pandemic crisis, the BC Dairy Association (BCDA) is giving away 20 dairy prize packs, worth $70 each.
Enter the contest below to win the prize pack and you could be the one of 20 people taking home this epic dairy selection including black raspberry ice cream, Greek vanilla yogurt, and a bottle each of 2% milk and 10% cream, plus a $50 gift card.
For every contest entry during the campaign, BC dairy farmers will donate $1 to Food Banks BC up to $20,000 inclusive of the entire BC Giveaway Series campaign.

Contest entries will be accepted from the time and date of publishing until 11:59 pm on July 22, 2020. Winners will be chosen at random and contacted through the platform they used to enter.
BCDA is a not-for-profit representing dairy farmers throughout BC. The organization is dedicated to supporting a sustainable industry and educating British Columbians about milk, dairy farming, and nutrition.
To date, BCDA has donated $175,000 directly to Food Banks BC, and contributed dairy product donations totalling 40,000 litres of milk, 5200 kg of cheese, and 2,700 kg of butter.
