4-sailing wait for BC Ferries' Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route today

Weekend travellers with a vehicle on BC Ferries’ route between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay should brace themselves for extra-long waits today.

The ferry corporation says a surge in traffic towards the Greater Victoria terminal from Tsawwassen is experiencing a five-sailing wait for those that are arriving at the terminal without reservations.

Hourly sailings at 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm are 100% full. At the time of writing, the first sailing available for standby traffic is the 9 pm sailing, but it has already reached over 60% of its capacity.

There are two more scheduled sailings later on at 10 pm and midnight, which is a special sailing that occurs only on Fridays during the summer.

At this time, there are no sailing waits for foot passengers.

Travellers with a vehicle should expect similar volumes for their return trip on Sunday, and similar peak conditions can be expected over the coming weekends leading to Labour Day weekend as more people take vacation time.
