BC Election 2017: Andrew Weaver's BC Greens pick up 3 seats

May 9 2017, 6:51 am

On an election results night that saw the BC Liberals in a tight heat with the BC NDP, the BC Green Party have tripled their seats in the Legislature.

Party leader Andrew Weaver held his seat in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, while Adam Olsen won the Saanich North and the Islands.

Meanwhile, Sonia Furstenau won a seat for the BC Greens in Cowichan Valley.

The result is a happy one for party leader Andrew Weaver, who, in a sit-down interview with Daily Hive said the Greens were “giving people something to vote for.”

The result will also give Weaver some company in Victoria; he has been the sole Green Party MLA in the BC legislature since 2013.
