Vancouver-based Article relocates to massive new Strathcona headquarters

Vancouver-based e-commerce furniture and decor company Article will be relocating its Railtown headquarters to a huge 115,000 square foot space in Strathcona.

The new space, located at 1010 Raymur Avenue, will have plenty of room for the company to house up to 300 employees, and Article’s co-founder and CEO, Aamir Baig, expects to grow his team to 150 employees by the end of 2017.

“We experienced more than 6X growth in 2016 which meant that we needed to find a space that could accommodate our continued growth,” Baig said in a release.

“We’re expanding in every aspect of our business: We’re hiring more staff, we’re increasing our product range and we’re developing new technologies to make the process for buying designer furniture more efficient. A new, larger office space was necessary at this stage in our growth, and we wanted to find a location that checked off all of the boxes on our wish list.”

The new facility will also be home to Article’s development centre for new warehousing technology, which serve as a test space for new ideas and produces. Part of the massive new building will be used as a warehouse station for orders to be shipped in Western Canada.

Article is currently home to 85 employees and has warehouse locations in Seattle, Los Angeles and New Jersey.

“2017 is going to be an important year for us, and expanding our office resources and building our warehouse network are the first steps we’re taking to set ourselves up for ongoing success,” said Baig.

In 2016, the company delivered of 25,000 orders of direct-to-consumer furniture and home decor.
