Abbotsford Police responded to reports of gunshots being fired in a neighbourhood mid-afternoon Friday.

When officers arrived to the scene at the 32500 block of George Ferguson Way and Oriole Crescent, they discovered a crashed Chrysler 300 car and a severely injured male with a suspected gunshot wound.

The 18-year-old male was rushed to hospital for treatment, but unfortunately he passed away shortly after his arrival.

“No suspects have been arrested at this time but numerous APD resources have been deployed into the area to search for the suspect and to investigate the incident. It appears that this was a targeted shooting.”

Few details are available at this time, and the investigation has been handed over to Metro Vancouver’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
