19 movies and TV shows filming in Vancouver this January

Few things are cooler than walking down the street of Vancouver and suddenly realizing that a new movie or the next installment of your favourite TV show is actually live and on location. Bright lights, cameras rolling, possible celebrity sightings, and directors yelling action!

Here are 19 movies and TV shows filming in Vancouver this January.

Limetown – Season 1

Starring Jessica Biel, this new Facebook mini-series will set up production in Vancouver this month and expected to be in town till March 2019. Based on a podcast, Limetown tells the story of a radio journalist who tries to uncover a mystery surrounding 300 people who went missing from a neuroscience research facility.

Magic Hour – Season 1

Magic Hour, going by its working title of the Untitled Hilde Lysiak Project, is a new series filming in Vancouver this month and will continue into April of next year.

Starring Brooklynn Prince as the main character Hilde Lysiak, the series is said to be about a young girl who moves to her father’s lakeside town and begins to solve a cold case. The series is inspired by the true story of investigative reporter Hilde Lysiak who exposed a murder at age nine.

The InBetween – Season 1

The InBetween is a new series filming in Vancouver through to February. The series tells the story of a woman who helps the dead solve their unresolved issues, while also helping detectives solve murder cases.

The Man in the High Castle – Season 4

The Man in the High Castle returns to Vancouver to film its fourth season through to March. Based upon the 1962 novel by Philip K Dick, the series is set in an alternate history where the Axis powers have won World War II dividing the United States.

Charmed – Season 1

The CW’s Charmed will wrap up filming of its first season mid-January. Starring Sarah Jeffery, Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock, the series is about three sisters who discover after their mother passes away that they are actually very powerful witches.

Snowpiercer – Season 1

Starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, Snowpiercer will finish filming for its first season this January. The new series will be based around the French graphic novel ‘Le Transperceneige’ and tells the story of the last survivors left on earth who board a train called “The Snowpiercer.”

The 100 is back in Vancouver to film its sixth season this month and will continue into February. The series centers around a group of post-apocalypse survivors that were living on a space station, and send down a group of juvenile prisoners to figure out if life can still exist on planet earth.

Lost in Space – Season 2

Lost in Space will be on location in Vancouver until the end of January. The series a remake of the 1960s sci-fi show of the same name, which featured the Robinson family trying to survive in space when their ship navigates off course. Molly Parker, who is better known as the ruthless Jackie Sharp on House of Cards, stars in the remake alongside Toby Stephens.

Riverdale – Season 3

The gang is back in town! Netflix’s Riverdale returns to Metro Vancouver to film its third season of the hit show. Based on the Archie Comics, the show will be on location all the way to April 2019.

A Million Little Things – Season 1

A Million Little Things will begin filming in Vancouver through to February. Starring Ron Livingston, this new show follows a group of tight-knit friends who come to realize what truly matters in life after one of them suddenly passes away.

iZombie – Season 5

iZombie returns to Vancouver to film its fifth season till the end of January. The show is an adaptation of the comic books with the same name, and the series follows the life of Liv Moore, played by Rose McIver, who has been changed into a zombie and must satisfy her hunger to stay sane.

Arrow – Season 7

The hit show Arrow will be in Vancouver this January to shoot its seventh season starring Stephen Amell. Spoiler alert – after last season ended with Oliver sharing his secret identity with the world and being thrown in prison. It’s safe to say that season seven will have fans on the edge of their seats.

Legends of Tomorrow – Season 4

Legends of Tomorrow is filming its fourth season in Vancouver and will wrap up production at the end of the month. The series centers around a group of heroes and villains who work together to help prevent an apocalypse from happening on earth and destroying all time. The new season will add a few new characters, along with an emphasis on magic and demons.

The Flash – Season 5

Back for its fifth season, The Flash will be on location in Vancouver until April 2019. Starring Grant Gustin as main character Barry Allen, the new season’s official air date will be October 9, 2018.

Supergirl – Season 4

Supergirl is back to save the day! Season 4 of the hit series Supergirl will be filming in Vancouver this January and will continue into April 2019.

The Good Doctor – Season 2

The Good Doctor will be on location in Vancouver this January for another season of the hit show. Starring Freddie Highmore as main character Shaun Murphy, the show revolves around an autistic surgeon who thinks outside the box and is recruited to work at a prestigious hospital.

Supernatural – Season 14

Back for its 14th season, Supernatural will be filming in Metro Vancouver starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. Known as The CW’s longest-running show in history, the new season will be the shortest one yet with only 20 episodes.

Siren – Season 2

Siren is on location in Vancouver through to March to film the next installment of this dark drama series. The show was recently renewed for a second season after scoring some seriously high ratings from fans.

See will be filming in Vancouver this month through to February for its first season. While there isn’t a lot of details surrounding the plot, the sci-fi series will star Jason Momoa as the lead role and is said to be set far into the future.
