The University of Toronto is hosting its first-ever graduation ceremony for all black identifying students today.

The ceremony is welcoming black students from all three campuses in Scarborough, St. George, and Mississauga.

According to organizers, “the Black Graduation celebration allows for students, family, and friends to come together to honour the accomplishments, resilience and determination of Black students graduating at the University of Toronto.”

A number of awards will also be given out at the ceremony, recognizing students who have achieved excellence in research, leadership, and community service.

The ceremony, which is believed to be the first of its kind for black graduates in Canada, takes place on at 7 pm on June 22 at Hart House Building, 7 Hart House Circle.
