Special weather statement remains in effect for Toronto today

Despite temperatures reaching a mild 14ºC this afternoon, Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the city today because strong winds are expected for this afternoon and into the evening.

The weather agency says strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 80 km/hr are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into this evening, which will be accompanied by a 70% chance of showers.

Environment Canada warns that loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

However, the strong winds are forecasted to gradually weaken overnight and you can expect a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday.
